My first Quilted Cake

My friend's friend (the one we made the corset cake for) just got married yesterday and here are some pictures of the cake.  This cake was only to look at...then for their first bite...then the top was getting saved to eat a year later.  The cupcakes (we didn't provide those) were there for the guests to enjoy;)

I quilted the top tier...and put the fondant on myself;)

It turned out really pretty and was a very cute, simple, and elegant looking cake;)

Bridal Shower Cake

I had not done a corset cake before...it was actually pretty fun to make.  My friend Taunya was asked to make this cake for HER friends bridal shower and she asked me to help out.  It turned out really cute I think!

Kayla's 12th Birthday

My friend Tricia has a daughter that is now OFFICIALLY old enough to babysit...WOO HOO!!!  But that is beside the point right now.  Kayla Loves Lime green and purple and so of course Tricia wanted her to have a fun cake like this.  Tricia has a sister that is really good at decorating cakes and I just helped her out a little bit.  It was a fun cake to work on.  I did cut the peace sign out and frost the top tier.

KAYLA LOVED THE CAKE!!!! and in the end, that is ALL that MATTERS   :)

WOW

There are no other words to describe this cake.  My friend Shelley was asked to do ANOTHER wedding cake and she asked if I could help decorate it and get it to the wedding.
Shelley ended up baking them all, then she frosted the bottom two tiers alone.  I came in the night before and helped put it all together and we set it up to make sure it was going to hold up ok.  Well no matter how it looked at her house, it was not ready to hold up on a slanted table at the reception.  *sigh*
I only have a picture of what it all looked like at Shelley's house put together, we then had to take it apart, transport it up the mountain to big bear and set it up on a SLANTED hill.  No bueno!   We tried our best to get it to stay straight up, but no luck...
Did I mention there were glass bowls in between each tier that were heavy and the cake was Devil's food cakes...(which do not stack well)  Anyways, after the cake started to slide off the table(we caught it)  we decided the top tier was going to have to go in front of the other two tiers since we were told the table had to sit at that location.
So if you ask me there are lots of little factors that caused this cake to end up the way it did...
LESSON LEARNED for Shelley and for Me I hope!!!  No more crazy wedding cakes and definitely no more delivering wedding cakes for them...not worth it!

NIGHTMARE

There are no other words to describe this cake except Nightmare...it was horrible.  I was extremely grateful that my sis in law and her three very talented teenagers were here to help make this cake.  I don't know why I get these ideas in my head that I can do these things...After a couple of thrown away cakes and starting over from scratch we decided to make the cake work...so after Nicole chizzeled away at it for a bit we were able to salvage it and start decorating.  I was really not too happy with the way it turned out, but I was told by several people that it looked good and then the girl we made it for said it looked just like she had pictured it.  So I guess it wasn't that bad!

Dirt Bikes and Flowers???

If you had told me that you wanted two dirt bikes as your wedding toppers and you wanted flowers all over your cake I would have probably thought you were crazy...well I think that we made it turn out pretty cool considering I don't think the two belong on a cake together;)  Here are some pictures of the process...kind of like the last wedding cake because she wanted it simple and happened to be at the last wedding and say, kind of like hers, but with different flowers and dirt bikes on top!

We did buttercream frosting with a cream cheese/strawberry filling that turned out really YUMMY!!!

Here is my friend Shelley who was asked to make the first wedding cake that I helped her with...then we were asked to do this one!  I like the way this one turned out better...no dance floor!

Here it is all set up at the reception center :)

Hannah Montana Cake

My friend Shelley came over and helped me get the two tiers frosted!  This cake was actually pretty simple to do once we got past frosting both tiers.  She just wanted the bottom rainbow cake to be decorated in pink frosting and the top chocolate cake decorated with purple frosting and polka dots on it...Simple enough!

Rainbow cupcakes

My little girl is having a Hannah Montana birthday party and she wanted some rainbow cupcakes to take to her dance class.  I wasn't so sure about this...but it really was super easy;)
I took pictures of the process.  She wanted the neon food coloring.  So we went with green, pink, and purple.  Then purple frosting to top it off!

Wedding Cake

So my friend Shelley and I have done several cakes together...but never a wedding cake.  The thought of doing a cake that matters so much for such a special occasion is kind of scary, but we took on the challenge.  We learned a lot in the process of this cake and now we know how to do things easier next time...but here are some pictures of the wedding cake process.
This was pound cake with strawberry slices and strawberry glaze in the middle of each layer.  Then buttercream frosting that is so YUMMY!  This was a really small wedding for a friend of Shelley's.  There were approx. 50 guests.

Yo Gabba Gabba

This year my little girl turned three and she wanted a foofa party.  I did this cake on my own and didn't have much to go off of picture wise, so here is what I came up with...

cupcakes with pink frosting and a little white flower to symbolize the flower in foofa's hair.  Yellow cake was used for the cupcakes.

Here's FOOFA!  Mady loved her cake...she was so excited.  The legs and arms are just fondant, then I used a regular frosting over the shaped fondant so that it looked the same as the rest of the cake.  The tip of foofa's head is a rice crispy treat!

Here are some pictures of the Mickey Mouse clubhouse Cake Shelley and I did.   We did this cake for my daughters second birthday!  The bottom tier is pound cake and the top tier is chocolate cake.  The mickey mouse head is covered with a rolled buttercream and it is a rice crispy treat.  The little shapes  are also a rolled buttercream.  The cake has a regular buttercream frosting.  It was very yummy as well!;)
